Barcelona-born driver completed his first test at the wheel of the new Porsche 991 GT3 Cup at Circuit de Catalunya, preparing the forthcoming 2013 season when his target is the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup once again. Tutumlu improved more than a second his previous record in Barcelona.

Isaac Tutumlu and Barzani Racing Team completed their first outing with new Porsche 991 GT3 Cup, the most recent racing car built by Porsche, last Tuesday. This year the Spaniard driver of Kurdish heritage is going to compete in the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup upholding the Kurdish colors on his car again. In Barcelona Tutumlu drove a car lined up by Tolimit Motorsport, the German outfit with close ties to Porsche Motorsport and a brilliant background in the series, and together driver and team had an excellent result. In spite of the Barzani Racing Team ́s driver only tested one day and not two, his times were rather competitive.

“It was a great chance to test this new car, and without question it ́s a step forward in comparison with last year ́s car. Maybe its oversteer is less pronounced, but the DNA is clearly Porsche. I was surprised by its brakes, and it ́s amazing because Porsche Motorsport is still working on this area to improve it even more! The paddle-shift transmission is another interesting novelty for ours the drivers”, the experienced GT driver said afterwards. He continued explaining that “I was quite close to top-ten, even when my experience was limited to one day, not two. My best lap here with Porsche Supercup was improved no less than a second and finished ahead of drivers like Alain Menu, former BTCC champion and behind me this time! It was great. I ́m sure that in the season opener, we ́re going to be even faster”.

Tutumlu had words of gratitude for “Barzani family, because the Kurdish backing is vital for continuing on the international scene another year, and always attending the same events as Formula 1. I think it ́s the best possible market to spread Kurdistan’s name. I ́d like to mention other two important names in the project, Ster Group and Golden Eagle Global. They ́re two Kurdish companies, Ster Group already joined us in 2012, meanwhile Golden Eagle Global is new for 2013. Their confidence is very important and I ́m going to work as hard as possible to achieve good results”. Tutumlu’s next target is set on 24-25 April at Monza, where Porsche has scheduled its second collective test session.
