This weekend, the “Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe” is starting its new season as part of the Blancpain Endurance Series on the Autodromo di Monza. A new entry this year is “Automobili Lamborghini Racing Team Germany” – a cooperation of the Europe-wide successful Lamborghini GT3 team Leipert Motorsport and Autohaus A. Gohm GmbH from Stuttgart.

The start of the new Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe series in Monza also marks the beginning of a new era for the Leipert Motorsport team. In addition to the ADAC GT Masters, the DMV TCC and the 24 h-races in Dubai and Spa, in which the Team raced under the licensed name “rhino’s Leipert Motorsport”, Leipert is now re-entering the world of one-make cups under the licensed name “Automobili Lamborghini Team Germany”. They have already been very successful here in the past, so their step into the Super Trofeo is no wonder.

The two vehicles with starting numbers 21 and 22 have kept the same branding as the Team’s GT3 cars – in the style of main sponsor rhino’s energy from Munich. Car no. 21 is driven by Erwin Stückle from Stuttgart whilst car no. 22 is driven alternately by the Germans Marcel Leipert and Korbinian Baier. Stückle has already gained first experiences in the Super Trofeo while Baier was racing successfully for rhino’s Leipert Motorsport in a GT3 car at the ADAC GT Masters last year. Marcel Leipert has been an ADAC GT Masters racing driver between 2009 and 2011 and went on to compete in the British GT in 2012.

The “world’s fastest one-make race series” comprises six events in Europe which take place on prestigious racing circuits as Monza, Paul-Ricard, Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring. There is also a night race in Misano besides the races which are part of the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Team Manager Ingo Leipert explains: “We are so much looking forward to our first Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe race. The series has grown consistently over the past years and is now an inherent part of motorsport, so, it is only natural that we, as the largest Lamborghini customer team in Europe, are eager to enter. The Super Trofeo is the perfect platform for gentleman drivers and rookies to advance to the GT3 sport and it therefore ideally complements our portfolio. Furthermore, we feel honoured by the great faith that Lamborghini Italy has in us as they give us exclusive rights to the team name “Automobili Lamborghini Racing Team Germany”. This is one further proof of the intensive cooperation with the newly founded Lamborghini Motorsport department of the plant in Italy and a further milestone for our Team.”

After the race in Monza in the Lamborghini Trofeo, Team rhino’s Leipert Motorsport will start at the DMV TCC at the Nürburgring and, one week later, at the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben – always with two Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 cars.
