Every team is out to win on one of the world’s most renowned circuits, and that is exactly what ProSpeed Competition achieved in the fifth round of the Blancpain Endurance Series. Marc Goossens, Xavier Maassen and Marc Hennerici, at the wheel of the Porsche Alcra Flash-CMF- MoWeKo bearing number #75, clinched victory on the Nürburgring following a brilliant race. With a half second bonus on their nearest rivals they provided the spectators with a nail biting thriller. In addition Marc Goossens, Xavier Maassen and Marc Hennerici have now climbed up to third place in the championship, the same spot that ProSpeed Competition also holds in the team rankings. In the Porsche 911 GT3-R (#74) in the colours of NEC-Remeha-Soleco, it also looked as though Paul Van Splunteren, Maxime Soulet and Dylan Derdaele would claim victory in the Pro/Am-Cup. The battle was so fierce that the tyres and brakes suffered to such an extent that they had to content themselves finally with a fifth place in the class.
Luc Goris (Technical Director): “This victory is undoubtedly a great boost for the entire team which has been working extremely hard all season. We had full faith, worked hard and this is the result. Marc, Marc and Xavier dove a perfect race, without committing the slightest mistake, as did Paul, Maxime and Dylan who had started off really well. The team were also quick to anticipate and react and the pit stops were out of this world. When all pieces of the puzzle fall into place we definitely play up front. This is even more enjoyable when you have more than NEC 150 guests present which Xavier Maassen welcomed and they were able to join in the celebrations. We are now going to focus on the race in Navarra, where we are out to fight twice for a third place in the championship, this being both for the drivers as also the teams. To finish third in the most high ranking European GT Championship would be a new international success in the history of the team.”
Marc Hennerici (Porsche 911 GT3-R #75 – Pro Cup): “My start here was of importance, because I know every inch of the tarmac like the back of my hand, and my plan succeeded. I was able to get up front and work off a perfect stint. However allow me to add the fact that both Marc and Xavier drove brilliantly. They both carried on the work and during the final 20 minutes, with Bleekemolen breathing down on the tail of the Porsche, I didn’t dare watch the TV screen any longer. This victory in front of a home crowd of quite fantastic.”
Paul van Splunteren (Porsche 911 GT3-R #74 – Pro/Am Cup): “It was almost perfect for the entire team. But let’s remember the positive side; a strong race from Maxime and Dylan, great teamwork not forgetting my guests who all enjoyed motorsport at a top level. We are now fully aware that the potential is definitely there and are looking forward to our rendezvous in Navarra for the final round of the season.”
