Top Italian team Roal Motorsport will enter a BMW Z4 GT3 in the second running of the Gulf 12 Hours at Yas Marina on December 12. Formerly Ravaglia Motorsport, the team was founded in 2001 and is run by 1987 World Touring Car champion, Roberto Ravaglia.
Previously touring car specialists – the team ran Paralympic double gold medal hero Alex Zanardi in 2008 – this year is ROAL’s first experience of GT racing. Its line-up of Michela Cerruti / Stefano Colombo / Tom Coronel and Edoardo Liberati qualified as first ProAM BMW for the Spa 24 Hours and ran close to the top 10 before a mid-race collision.
“The pit crew and drivers gave their best and gained some precious experience under pressure, which we can put to good use,” Ravaglia said. “The Abu Dhabi 12 Hours will be another exciting challenge!”
