An undeniable event of the Belgian motorsport season, the 24 Hours of Zolder has found its slot in the ProSpeed Competition calendar. A race that the Belgian team will be taking on with the fearsome Porsche 911 GT3-R bearing the livery of Century 21, Alcra Flash and Spike Communications. Four times winner of the event, Marc Goossens will be joined by his ‘partner in crime’ Maxime Soulet… with whom he scored back in 2007. The presence of the fast Bert Redant and Frédéric Bouvy, the team’s ‘in house’ reference driver when it comes to the Belgian Championship, undoubtedly places the Porsche #75 as one of the event’s favourites. In the workshop, annexed to Penders Porsche Centre Liège, Luc Goris and his team are presently fine-tuning the car. What with the other competitors in the GT3 class, as also other Porsche 911s and Prototypes it will be a very open race.
Rudi Penders (Team Principal): “The 24 Hours of Zolder has a renowned past. All the Belgian players agree that this event must live on. However the event’s viability and credibility has taken on a new concept. To adapt amongst others, to the actual and latest motorsport characteristics. ProSpeed Competition has always defended a long-term vision when it comes to events. Once again allow me to emphasize that our presence demonstrates the confirmation of our commitments and the dialogues we have held with the organisers, the promoters and the federation. “The Battle”? Yes, for sure. The Zolder circuit is demanding. Cars in the GT3 class, quoted as being the favourites, have not yet won. Neither in relation to other Porsche 911s, especially the formidable “Cup” version, which is highly reliable. Nor in relation to the latest newcomers… Over one lap the Prototypes can be faster than us. On top of that their ‘featherweight’ is an advantage when it comes to consumption, tyre and brake wear.”
Marc Goossens (Porsche 911 GT3-R #75 – Driver): “The only reason I’m making this quick ‘return’ trip from the States is in fact to win… for a fifth time. I can’t see any other reason! The 24 Hours of Zolder is definitely the most demanding endurance race in Europe. On the technical front highly specific. As for the drivers there isn’t a single moment to relax. On a personal front, and it isn’t a secret, I’m delighted to be teamed up with Maxime once again. I’m obviously pleased to be sharing the drive with Bert and Frédéric also. Should you be looking for Epicure during the weekend of 8th and 9th September, pop into our stand!”
Bert Redant (Porsche 911 GT3-R #75 – Driver): “It has always been one of my dreams to compete in the 24 Hours of Zolder under perfect conditions. ProSpeed Competition is undeniably one of the best teams in Belgium, in endurance races the Porsche 911 is a redoubtable weapon and my teammates are all top drivers. Every racing driver would be in full agreement with that. It goes without saying that our ambition is for an all out victory and with less than a podium place I would be highly displeased.”
