Gil de Ferran – de Ferran Motorsports Acura ARX-02a (1st LMP1) : “I had a good opportunity at the start to open a gap when I came out of turn one in first place and thought ‘here’s my chance’, so I pushed as hard as I knew how to try and open a gap. We managed to build an over-30 second lead by the time we had our first stop. Simon drove extremely well for the rest of the race and we kept building distance from the second-place car all the way to the end. This is a very meaningful victory for us, our second in a row. This was our debut event last year, and we came so close to winning it then. It’s fantastic to come back and achieve the win this year – such a great win. It speaks volumes about the team and the entire Acura program.”

Simon Pagenaud de Ferran Motorsports Acura ARX-02a (1st LMP1) : “Gil did all the work – I didn’t have much to do. He gave me the car with a massive gap. From there, I kept pushing so as not to lose my focus. I pushed as though there was someone right behind me the entire time. The car was behaving perfectly. The team called the strategy just right. The tires were behaving well. Not much to say, to be honest. Three wins in a row for me… now I just have to try to keep the streak going!”

Scott Sharp – Patrón Highcroft Racing Acura ARX-02a (2nd LMP1) : “Today wasn’t what we hoped for. Congratulations go to the de Ferran team. They seemed to have a little bit on us all weekend but that was compounded by getting stuck behind Jon Field’s car early. The turbo cars have a really big advantage at this high altitude. He was able to get by me off the start. I was hoping he was going to be able to get past Gil as well, but he slotted in between us. The Patron Highcroft car was much faster in the corners but Jon would skip away on the straights by about 10 to 15 car lengths. It really cost us around 3-4 seconds a lap. That was really frustrating and put us at a disadvantage early. The problem with the seat-belts in the pit stop didn’t help – neither me nor Steve Gough who helps on the driver changes could get the left lap belt to budge. Second place points are still good however, when it is not your day.”

David Brabham – Patrón Highcroft Racing Acura ARX-02a (2nd LMP1) : “With no safety car on track today, the time we lost at the start trying to get past the turbo car of Field really cost us. That was really the defining moment. The two Acuras are so evenly matched out there that anything like that really hurt us. When Scott came in the left lap belt wouldn’t loosen – it was broken. That caused a slow stop and when I went back out the left hand shoulder belt wasn’t in properly. I was trying to find the little slot by feel because you can’t see it. I had to slow right down because I didn’t want to have to come back into the pits – that really would have killed the race. It took half a lap going slowly before I got it back in and that made the gap even bigger. After that I was driving as hard as I could but it was simply too big a gap. We got points and that was really important. We’ve lost a little bit of our lead but there is still a long way to go.”

Johnny Mowlem – Corsa Motorsports Ginetta-Zytek 09 Hybrid (4th LMP1) : “Obviously this was a bittersweet race for us. I was pleased with the hybrid during qualifying and at the start of the race.  None of the new systems had any issues throughout the race. What we learned from this race will put us in a better position to come back stronger in the next race.”

Stefan Johansson Corsa Motorsports Ginetta-Zytek 09 Hybrid (4th LMP1) : “We finished, which is what we were hoping to do. We had a few dramas, which is a shame because we were looking at a podium. It was a good learning experience, we said before the weekend started we would treat this as a learning session. We learned a lot about what happened to the car this weekend. We have a better understanding of what the car will do in a race situation.’’

Adrian Fernandez – Lowe’s Fernandez Racing Acura ARX-01b (1st LMP2) : “It was a tough race. It was a little frustrating at the beginning when Luis was losing time to the leaders with the traffic. There were a few P1s that we were quite a bit quicker than and he just couldn’t pass them. I give Luis a lot of credit to have the patience because it would have been so easy to throw it away at the beginning knowing that you were losing so much time. We were losing four or five seconds a lap sometimes, to a point that we were almost 50 seconds behind the leader of the P2s. At the end, it was very close. We barely got in front of the #20 Mazda and we finished one or two seconds ahead of them. It was a great victory and very well-deserved by everyone on the team. After our past performance here, it was nice to win especially after such a close race with the Mazdas.”

Luis Diaz – Lowe’s Fernandez Racing Acura ARX-01b (1st LMP2) : “It was a great day. The whole team did a great job. We knew the disadvantages of being a little bit slower on the straights, but the Acura is a great car and the guys did a tremendous job in the pits. Adrian did a great job at the end under pressure. It was an awesome race. We fought hard for this one.”

Butch Leitzinger – Dyson Racing Mazda (2nd LMP2) : “The team did a fantastic job bringing the car up to speed this weekend. Every weekend we show how much Mazda is coming on. You have to say that on an open lap, both cars were very close, so it was going to be down to traffic. The BP team can hold its head high.”

Jörg Bergmeister – Flying Lizard Motorsport Porsche 997 GT3 RSR (1st GT2) : “I had expected a strong start. I was at the front of the GT2 field so when the prototypes started accelerating, I started accelerating. Then the prototypes were suddenly on the brakes and I had to hit the brakes. The GT2 cars behind me had momentum and Marc Lieb in the No. 87 flew by. Some of the GT2 cars got caught up in the mess, but luckily I was able to get through it and overtake the No. 87 again to retake the lead.”

Patrick Long – Flying Lizard Motorsport Porsche 997 GT3 RSR (1st GT2) : “It was a seamless weekend for the Lizards leading up to the race and I was determined to finish the weekend out on top. I knew the No. 87 was in striking distance so I chose to wait until the second half of my stint to really put the hurt on them. We were able to extend our gap before we came in for fuel and thanks to great strategy from Thomas Blam and pit work from the crew, we kept the lead and took the win. It was our race to lose, and I think that demanded perfection from everyone today: an incredible weekend!”

Wolf Henzler – Farnbacher Loles Porsche 997 GT3 RSR (2nd GT2) : “Marc started the race and early on there was an accident involving the Risi Ferrari which put them way back in the field. That moved us into second place where we stayed for the whole race. We didn¹t have quite the pace of the leader but second place is very good. We finally finished on the podium, which is great for the team.”

Pierre Kaffer – Risi Competizione (3rd GT2) : “I don’t really know what happened at the start, we shall have to investigate it. It’s the first time I’ve ever spun on the straight and I was really scared that the car would be damaged by luckily nothing happened, except for the tires. Jaime did a great job at the end and third is the maximum we could have achieved in the circumstances. You know that here at Risi Competizione and at Ferrari we never give up and today’s result shows that very well.”

Jaime Melo– Risi Competizione (3rd GT2) : “The team did a very good job on our pit stops and our strategy to help us get to this result today. I had a lot of mid corner oversteer in the car which made it very hard to keep consistent. I’m disappointed as we had a good car to fight with the Porsches, and the result could have been better if we hadn’t had the contact at the start, but that’s racing.”

Nicky Pastorelli – Vici Racing Porsche 997 GT3 RSR (5th GT2) : “I’m pretty happy with the result today for sure. We had a great start but it took a few laps to get the car up to speed and in the meantime the Panoz overtook me. It’s difficult to run again a car with such a powerful engine, it was getting 20 km on us on the straight and can pull four car lengths out buy the first turn, although our car is much quicker in the corners so try as I might I couldn’t make pass stick as it could pull away on the straights. During the final stint the car felt really good, the tires were working very well here too, and I was able to turn in consistent laps to the finish. We made very good progress here for sure and I’m looking forward to us moving a step forward at the next race.”
