Fresh of a victory at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Canada, Tomy Drissi and Bruno Junquiera will look for a repeat performance driving the No. 9 RSR LMPC car at the American Le Mans presented by Tequila Patron Mid-Ohio Sports Car Championships at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, August 3rd & 4th.
Campaigning the No. 9 RSR Dog Days Diary of a Wimpy Kid ORECA LMPC car, Tomy and Bruno will take on one of the most popular tracks on the ALMS championship circuit, the legendary Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, a natural terrain road-racing circuit featuring 13-turns and several elevations changes over 2.25 miles. The track has tested the courage of some of the world’s top drivers for more than 40 years.
“This is a great track and a fun place to race,” noted Drissi. “I’ve had a lot of good runs here including last year’s win in the LMPC class. Put that together with our win last week in Canada and I’m fairly confident Bruno and I can get the job done.”
“Mid-Ohio presents a lot of racing opportunities,” said Tomy. “The last few races have seen a lot of rough driving and some pretty intense traffic jams. I think Mid-Ohio should give guys more options to spread out and provide a little more give and take. It’s a two hour and 45 minute race. Everyone needs to take a breath and run clean. It makes it better for everyone.”
While Tomy has last year’s win to point to, his 2011 co-driver will be the competition this year. In 2011 Tomy co-drove with Merchant Services driver Kyle Marcelli. This year the two will be locked in battle.
“RSR has done a great job of putting a good car under us,” added Tomy. “Paul [Gentilozzi] and his sons know how to win. Paul never let’s up… he pushes us hard because he knows that what it takes to win. It’s great having that kind of leadership.”
The livery for No. 9 car this week will feature the movie Dog Days Diary of a Wimpy Kid opening Friday August 3rd. This is the third movie in the series.
