It’s easy to see why Merchant Services Racing has high-hopes for round 6 of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron Mid Ohio Sports Car Challenge, August 3rd & 4th in Lexington, Ohio. Mid-Ohio is the Plain City, Ohio based team’s home track and a track where they’ve enjoyed great success in the past. None more recent than last year’s victory in the LMPC class with driver Kyle Marcelli.

“We know how to win here,” cited team principal, Brian Alder. “It’s always great to race in a comfortable setting. We know the track, we know the setups and we’re surrounded by family and friends. It makes a difference.”

The team will field two cars for the annual visit to Mid-Ohio. Kyle Marcelli and Anthony Downs will join forces in the No. 8 Lamex, Butterfield Farms ORECA LMPC, while Tony Burgess and James Kavacic will pilot the No. 7 sister car.

One of the most popular circuits among drivers, the legendary Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a natural terrain road-racing circuit featuring 13-turns and several elevations changes over 2.25 miles. The track has tested the courage of some of the world’s top drivers for more than 40 years.

“We’ve been poised to win all season,” added Alder. “The entire team is focused on getting to the podium. Contact has kept us off the podium the last two races. The cars have been exceptional and our driver combinations work well with IMSA’s Challenge rules. We’ve employed good race strategy and kept ourselves in a position to win. We just need to catch a break and avoid some of the rough driving that’s going on in traffic.”
