Conquest Endurance continued to impress today by finishing first overall in testing for the Mobil 1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport, round five of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron. Martin Plowman behind the wheel of the #37 Conquest machine turned a flyer of 1m09.927s on his last lap of the day with only seconds to go before the checkered flag giving him the top spo on the overall charts.
Both Plowman and teammate David Heinemeier Hansson took their first laps ever today around the 2.459-mile Canadian Tire Motorsports Park track as they prepare for Sunday’s 2h45min race. Heinemeier Hansson went out for the first 45min of practice and right away jumped to the top of the charts, handing the car over to Plowman with what was at the time the quickest P2 time of the day. Plowman then continued to develop the setup of the Morgan-Nissan chassis with the Conquest engineers, while gradually improving his lap times until eventually he managed to turn a lap quicker than even the more powerful P1 cars.
Saturday during practice and qualifying the Conquest squad will look to continue building on their strong momentum as they search for their first pole position in the P2 category.
Official practice for the Mobil 1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport begins Saturday morning, qualifying will be streamed live on ESPN3 and XBOX LIVE at 3:15pm EDT. The 2h45 min race will take the green flag Sunday at 12:00pm EDT and will be broadcast on ESPN featuring live coverage at 1:00pm EDT. It will also be streamed live on ESPN3 and XBOX LIVE and www.alms.com (for international viewers).

“This is the start of the weekend we were hoping for. To be P1 overall in the session is nice, but I don’t feel an ounce of contentment. There is still a lot of work to be done and I won’t rest or feel happy until we are finally standing on the top step on Sunday.”

“We had a great car rolling off the truck and Mosport is simply a blast of a track. I love being back at a place with fast flowing corners. We’ve been running slow tracks for a while now, so I appreciate the difference. It’s my first time here, but Mosport is pretty short, so it didn’t take us long at all to get up to speed. It’s great to see that the car already has the pace to be at the top of the charts overall. Now we just have to maintain that and be there at the end of the race.”
