Rising GT star Ollie Millroy will contest all remaining Blancpain Endurance Series 3 hour events with the Barwell Motorsport-run Ecurie Ecosse squad following his stunning wet weather performances with the British team at the season-opening rounds at Monza and Silverstone.

The 22 year old former BMW Scholarship winner from Surrey will pilot the Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4 GT3 at the upcoming Paul Ricard round (1 July) alongside Joe Twyman and the team’s British GT campaigner, Oliver Bryant, who is fresh from a superb drive in the BMW to third place at Brands Hatch on Sunday (24 June), and takes the place of Andrew Smith who is unable to take up his seat in France due to a long standing personal commitment. Smith will be back in the car sharing with Millroy and Twyman for the final Blancpain Endurance Series rounds at Nurburgring (23 September) and Navarra (14 October).

Millroy enjoyed an impressive junior career both in karts and the single-seater ranks. In 2006 he won the British ICA Championship and the Italian Winter Cup, and in 2008 he was awarded the BMW Scholarship after setting the quickest time at the course in Valencia against 63 other drivers. The same year he was made an MSA Race Elite Academy driver, and subsequently went on to make race-winning forays into Formula BMW and Formula Renault.

“I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season and appreciate everything the team and all of our sponsors have done to ensure I am in the car” said Ollie Millroy. “We have a really strong Pro-Am driver lineup, and so I’m confident we can go achieve some good results. It’s a great feeling to have the rest of the season planned and I can now work hard on ensuring I’m at the top of my game.”

Andrew Smith, Ecurie Ecosse: “This is a very important year for Ecurie Ecosse as we return to the international racing scene and build relationships with our partners. We needed consistency in our Blancpain Endurance Series assault, and with Ollie now fully on board we have a quick lead driver who is both intelligent and fully committed to the team’s cause going forward. I am very much looking forward to sharing with him again at the Nurburgring and beyond.”

Chris Needell, Barwell Motorsport Commercial Director: “It’s great news that we have managed to confirm Ollie (Millroy) for the remaining three Blancpain 3-Hour races. He has been a major asset to the team so far this season, and there’s no doubt that having this stability will be a big factor in enabling us to become more and more competitive in the Blancpain series.”

Ecurie Ecosse have yet to confirm their plans surrounding Spa 24 Hours, but should they contest the Belgian classic again this year then it is likely that Millroy will be part of the squad.
