Dörr Motorsport achieved the seventh class victory in the history of the team from Frankfurt after entering the BMW Z4 M Coupé in the 40th run of the classic endurance race in the Eifel, Germany. Winning the third place in its class, the Seat Leon Supercopa added to the success.

Stefan Aust, Team Principal and driver Rainer Dörr, Rolf Scheibner and Frank Weishar finished the 40th ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring after 24 hours and 135 laps, winning the first place in the class of the modified cars with a cylinder capacity of up to 3.5 litres. Driving faultlessly, the drivers were 12 laps ahead of the first pursuing car whose team finished the race in the second place in this class. Team Principal Rainer Dörr was extremely happy after the win. “This is brilliant! We can be more than happy with our faultless performace considering the high amount of accidents, especially in the night. I would like to thank my teammates and the whole team. Everybody did a great job”.

The BMW Z4 M Coupé achieved the third class win at the 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring – the last success was in 2010. The BMW finished 34th in the overall standings.

Klaus Niedwiedz, Friedrich Holoch, Christian Penno and Dirk Heldmann in the Seat Leon Supercopa were also very successful. The four drivers completed 127 laps, a combination of the Grand Prix track and the Nordschleife, within the 24-Hour Race. At the end, the four drivers secured the third place in the SP3T class and the fifty-sixth place in the overall standings. Having been in the fourth position for quite a while, the Seat Leon Supercopa gained another place during the last quarter of the race which resulted in a place on the podium.

Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Among the Top 20

The drivers of the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup did an excellent job. Starting from P35, Christian Gebhardt, Markus Grossmann, Niclas Kentenich and Peter Posavac kept a clear head throughout the race. Despite the rain on Sunday morning and the large number of accidents during the night, the four drivers set steady and fast lap times. After the 24 hour had passed the Porsche 997 GT3 Cup placed 20th in the overall standings. In the SP7 class the drivers finished fifth after 143 laps.

The BMW M 3 GT4 with Uwe Ebertz, Stefan Kenntemich, Simon Englerth and Heiko Hahn in the cockpit is Dörr Motorsport’s fourth car finishing the race and benefitting from a faultless performance. After defending a place around P50 throughout the race, the four drivers secured the 49th place in the end, finishing in the Top 50. Ebertz and Kenntemich did not manage to defend last year’s third place in the GT4 category, finishing seventh. However, this year the competition in that category was much stronger than before.

Bad Luck for the McLaren’s MP4-12C GT3

The two McLaren’s MP4-12C GT3 were Dörr Motorsport‘s highest priority at this year’s 24-Hour Race which made it all the more bitter for everyone involved when the two cars were forced to retire early. After Chris Goodwin had taken over the McLaren #69 from the first driver, Rudi Adams, the British sports car crashed into the barrier due to oil in the Metzgesfeld section. Having taken over from Peter Kox, the second pilot in the sister car, Arno Klasen, crashed in the Kallenhard section a short time later. Team Manager Uwe Isert said, “Arno had a light collision with another car in his first lap after the driver change. Six laps later the car the car broke away after driving over a big bump and crashed into the barriers”.

Team Principal and class winner Rainer Dörr concluded, “It was really unfortunate that both McLaren‘s MP4-12C had to retire early. It could not have gotten any worse. In return, all of our other cars finished the 24-hour marathon without any problems. The class win of the Z4 and the Seat’s third place are a big success and a reward for the team. The 20th place in the overall standings for the Porsche is really remarkable considering the strong competition at the top. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the whole team and our partners for this year’s 24-Hour Race”.
