The teams have the first two hours of the 24-hour race behind them. Works-supported BMW Team Schubert has endured a turbulent start. Jörg Müller initially converted his pole position into an excellent lead, opening up a gap of nine seconds on the very first lap.
However, damage to the front-right tyre caused by debris on the track forced the number 19 BMW Z4 GT3 to make an unscheduled pit stop after just four laps. The Marc VDS Racing car, with Maxime Martin at the wheel, also visited the pit lane four laps into the race. The two cars were not to be discouraged though, and were leading the field after two hours of racing. The early pit stops mean they are now pitting in a different rhythm to the opposition, however.
BMW Team Schubert’s second BMW Z4 GT3 (car number 20), with Claudia Hürtgen at the wheel, had established itself in fifth place after the first two hours. Jens Klingmann in the number 18 BMW Z4 GT3 belonging to BMW Team Vita4One has moved up two positions to 13th. He is followed one place back by the sister car (number 17), with Pedro Lamy at the wheel.
