For the second consecutive year, the Tourist Trophy comes to Wendlinger/Sharp’s way, thanks to the K plus K Motorsport Saleen S7-R’s victory. The Czech team has started the season as best as it could. The race has been everything but easy for the American GT with a strong fight with the Vitaphone Racing Maserati MC12 in the hands of Bartels/Bertolini. Nevertheless, the Saleen demonstrated that it is faster than its opponents and the crew has been better at squeezing in traffic. For its first real FIA-GT race, Team Luc Alphand Aventures has struggled strongly and made the third step of the podium. One more time, the team from Sarthe has risen to the challenge and Moreau/Maassen should be able to fight for the title. After a good start, the PK Carsport Corvette C6.R raced by Hezemans/Kumpen finished fourth. Racing for the very first time, the Matech GT Racing Ford GT driven by Biagi/Mutsch has in no way demeaned itself with a good 8th place. Krumm/Turner’s Nissan GT-R met technical problems and had to retire.
Porsche wins the GT2 class thanks to Collard/Westbrook. The Porsche 997 GT3-RSR has been in the pace from the start of the race as Westbrook did a good stint. Manu Collard then rolled to the finish line as Gimmi Bruni had to give up because of a technical problem. Russo/Companc eventually finished second with the Pecom Racing F430. Kirkaldy/Bell complements the podium with the CRS Racing Ferrari.
