Jeff Segal had a great homecoming recently, when he joined co-driver Emil Assentato in winning the Grand Prix of Miami at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was the first victory for the Ferrari 458 Italia, on the circuit nearest the current residence of the University of Miami School of Business graduate.

This weekend, Segal goes back home to Philadelphia where he was born and grew up. It’s his second home race as he teams with Assentato in the No. 69 AIM Autosport Team FXDD Racing Ferrari. Prior to winning at Miami, the pair finished second in the Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park. The co-drivers now hold a three-point lead in the Rolex Series GT point standings over Rolex 24 winners Andy Lally and John Potter.

“We’ve put a lot of hard work into this program getting the new Ferrari up to speed,” Segal said. “I hope we can continue our momentum in the upcoming races. We’re hoping that this is the start of a good run this season.”

Segal and Assentato scored their best New Jersey finish during their 2010 GT championship season when they finished third in a SpeedSource Mazda RX-8.

Segal, who turned 27 on the Friday of the Homestead event, has raced in GRAND-AM since 2003. He is one of only two drivers (Craig Stanton the other) to win championships in both the Rolex Sports Car Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, scoring at least one win in the Rolex Series every year since 2008.
