The biggest Slovakian motorsport team ARC Bratislava took part in Blancpain Endurance series in Monza today, with Porsche 997 GT3 R. The well-known endurance racing team has a strong record in FIA GT Championship, clinching a victory in G2 class in Brno in 2007 with Saleen. The team owner and driver Miro Konopka achieved career’s best 3rd place result at Zhuhai circuit in China in N-GT class back in 2004.

The driver line-up for 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series consists of Miro Konopka – 2 times 24h Le Mans contender and 6 times FIA CEZ Trophy winner, Zdenko Mikulasko – up and coming driver and former Slovak Champion in sports cars and Stefano Crotti from Italy.

The first race of new season turned out to be unlucky due to a penalty after a crash in pre-qualifying. Miro Konopka started the full wet race and after one hour the home boy Stefano Crotti got behind the wheel in 32nd place overall. After Stop&Go penalty the team lost some places, but in the last stint Zdenko Mikulasko did a superb job and climbed up to the eventual 40th place.

ARC Bratislava owner and driver Miro Konopka knows the reserves of his team: “We have to practice pit stops with our guys. I˙m satisfied with the speed of our car, Zdenko Mikulasko was able to stay with Ortelli˙s Audi on track in the last stages of the race. I believe we will be better at Silverstone, our aim is the Top 20.”

ARC Bratislava has a huge experience with Porsche GT3 cars in endurance racing across the world, finishing 3rd overall in Dubai 24h in 2006 and raced on many international circuits.
