After leading the morning practice under wet conditions at the Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series at Long Beach, the Conquest Endurance team had high hopes for qualifying but the session was cancelled due to rain and the grid will now be set by championship points. Due to their podium finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring, David Heinemeier Hansson and Martin Plowman will line up third on the LMP2 starting grid for Saturday’s race.
The Conquest Endurance squad began the day on a high note after finishing quickest in the LMP2 class and third overall in a very wet morning session. First out during the practice was Heinemeier Hansson who did his first laps ever around a temporary street course and immediately set a quick pace in the slippery wet conditions. Plowman then took over and put the #37 Conquest machine at the top of the charts in the closing minutes of the session.
Heinemeier Hansson will be behind the wheel of the #37 Morgan car tomorrow when the green flag drops for the two-hour race. He will do his first ever stint in a street course and then hand over the controls to Plowman who will shoot for another podium finish in ALMS.
