rhino’s Leipert Motorsport: With blunt weapons – Lamborghinis undergo strong restrictions on performance and miss a placement among the top 10.
The first event of the ADAC GT Masters at the Motorsport arena Oschersleben was a fight with blunt weapons for rhino’s Leipert Motorsport. This year, both Lamborghini Gallardo LP600+ received an air restrictor of 34.5 mm at the “Balance of Performance” whilst last year, they had one of 45 mm. On top of that, the team could only unload very little weight. At the so-called “Balance of Performance”, all 12 manufacturers represented at the ADAC GT Masters are adapted to one another from a performance-technical viewpoint. As it seems, calculations for the Lamborghini were wrong. As a result, Lamborghini no. 11 and drivers Raffi Bader/David Mengesdorf could only reach positions 18 and 25 which meant they had the best placement out of the Lamborghinis in the second race. Lamborghini no. 12 with drivers Gerhard Tweraser and Oleg Petrishin finished 32nd and 29th.
And all that although driver duo Bader/Mengesdorf in particular harmonized extremely well. Be it so, they were more than 2 seconds behind the leaders during qualifying and could not completely make up for lost ground in race conditions. Apart from Suisse Raffi Bader, also Gerhard Tweraser is new at Team rhino’s Leipert Motorsport. Also the Austrian was very fast under the given restrictions.
rhino’s Leipert Motorsport Team Manager Ingo Leipert complained: “Our driver duos and pit stops were brilliant this weekend, but we didn’t have a chance. I expect reasonable classification for future races in order to be able to compete with other manufacturers on equal terms. This is definitely not possible under the current conditions.”
The next ADAC GT Masters event is going to take place in Zandvoort, NL, at the first weekend in May. Team rhino’s Leipert Motorsport, however, has its next race this weekend when it participates in the FIA GT3 European Championships in Nogaro, South of France.
