The organisers of the new endurance race in Turkey, have today confirmed the event will be named the ‘Istanbul 12 Hours’.
The schedule for the event, which will be held at Intercity Istanbul Park on Sunday 9 August 2015, will follow the same format as the successful ‘Gulf 12 Hours’ race, pioneered by Driving Force Events in Abu Dhabi. The 12-hour race will be divided into two six-hour races with teams permitted to work on their cars in between.
Pre-registration for the ‘Istanbul 12 Hours’ will open on Friday 15 May and will be open to a mix of GT, Sport Prototype and Touring cars.
The last ferry departures for teams to send their trucks will be Sunday 2 August from Trieste Port (Italy) and Toulon Port (France). The 5.338km Intercity Istanbul Park is just 21km from Pendik Port (Turkey), where the ferry lines arrive.
