Joel Camathias’ 2014 season doesn’t stop: the Swiss driver has been called again to race in the GT Asia Series 2014 by Chinese squad NB Team. The Swiss driver will be partnering with Chinese driver Songyang Fu in the third round of the series, to be held this weekend at Fuji Speedway, Japan. Joel already raced in the second round at Autopolis, end of May. This time, though, the team will not be using its usual Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3, which was recently damaged in private testing, but a Mercedes AMG SLS GT3.
Joel Camathias:
“I feel of course honored to have been called again by NB Team and Songyang Fu,and once again, my role will be to assist my team mate as best as I can. The track is not new to me but the car will be. The team has rented a Mercedes AMG SLS GT3 for the occasion, as the Aston is still being repaired after an accident in private testing. I have never driven the Mercedes SLS before and it will be interesting to discover it, exactly as it happened with the Aston six weeks ago. Taking into account the GT Open and the Asia GT, it’s the fourth different car I am driving this season out of six events, and I am enjoying the experience! At this very moment, though, everybody’s concern in Japan is the Neoguri typhoon which has hit the country and may disturb the weekend’s schedule. After such a long trip, let’s hope we can race!”
