Scuderia Villorba Corse and their Ferrari 458 clinched some valuable points for the standings in race-2 of the fifth round of the International GT Open. After a difficult Saturday’s race-1, in which they had to recover from the back of the grid and missed a top-five finish because of a late puncture, Andrea Montermini and Niccolò Schirò had to front a very tough race again managing to keep second position in the standings with a sixth place overall and a fourth in the Super GT class. After a very good start from Schirò the Villorba crew, who had to pay the highest mandatory handicap time during the driver change, was back on track in the middle of the field. Montermini tried to fight back but, with a braking system troubles, only thanks to his great experience he was able to control the supercar from Maranello when the 458 went off track in a quick sector.

“Everything happened during the weekend – says Raimondo Amadio, Team Principal -. In the end it even went well when we nearly hit a wall with only a few minutes to go, managing to bring home some points. We still have to close a three-point gap, exactly the same as before Silverstone. It was a pity we have suffered a loss of power for the whole weekend, but that’s it. We will pay a lower handicap at Spa and the title fight is completely open.”
