With the 201st car, in this case a GT3 one coming out of the production line of  Sant’Agata Bolognese last January 18th, Lamborghini Squadra Corse sets a new record, with over two hundred racing Huracáns produced from 2015 to date.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse is one of the few Motorsport departments in the world which can pride itself on manufacturing its own racing cars on the same production line of the road car, inside the factory of Sant’Agata Bolognese. Both the Huracán Super Trofeo and the Huracán GT3 share the same production line as the standard Lamborghini Huracán cars. Racing cars are followed along each assembly station by skilled and qualified technicians from Lamborghini Squadra Corse to ensure maximum care in the assembly.

The fact of building racing cars by applying the same model of the series production is a considerable added value. In this way, production times are reduced and the highest quality control standards are guaranteed, which, in the case of a racing car, translate into greater reliability on track.

For a Motorsport department, these are extraordinary numbers, especially considering the limited time frame in which these cars were built. “These figures – says Giorgio Sanna, Head of Motorsport at Automobili Lamborghini – show once more the great commercial and sporting success of the  Huracán  Super Trofeo and GT3, a result we want to share with all our customer teams investing in our Motorsport programs and products. A special thanks also goes to the Squadra Corse staff and all business areas of Automobili Lamborghini contributing to achieve important results every day.“

The over two hundred units produced include the Huracán Super Trofeo, the model animating the one-make series which Lamborghini Squadra Corse organizes in Europe, Asia, North America and in the Middle East, and the Huracán GT3, the top version racing in the main GT championships worldwide, thanks to customer teams.

The Huracán Super Trofeo made its first public appearance in August 2014, during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California and started racing in the 2015 season. Over 140 units of this version have been produced in the course of two years at full production, which is a considerable achievement if compared to the preceding model, the Gallardo Super Trofeo which totaled 106 units between 2009 and 2014. In only two years, the Huracán has therefore exceeded the production career of the Gallardo, which lasted six years.

The GT3 version, which differs from the Huracán Super Trofeo thanks to its more sophisticated aerodynamics and suspension kinematics, developed in collaboration with Dallara, made its racing debut in 2015 (winning the Endurance race of the Blancpain GT Series at Monza) and has so far been produced in almost 60 units. About 40 of which have already taken part in 2016 GT championships, winning 2 titles and scoring  52 podiums, 18 overall wins and 22 pole positions.
