Barwell Motorsport is delighted to confirm that it will be fielding a second Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in this year’s 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, for Jon Minshaw, Phil Keen, Joe Osborne and Oliver Gavin. Barwell British GT Championship driver Minshaw has taken over the car previously entered for Mark Poole, and will be joined by his regular domestic series driving partner Keen. Osborne and Gavin meanwhile were originally slated to drive with Mark Poole in the event, and will still complete the Barwell Huracan’s line-up. Poole and regular co-pilot, Richard Abra, meanwhile have switched their attentions to completing their season in the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup.
Demon Tweeks-backed Minshaw and Keen enjoyed a highly successful outing in the Spa 24 Hours last year, when together with Leo Machitski and Jonny Cocker, they campaigned a Barwell Motorsport BMW Z4 GT3 to fourth place in Pro-Am and eighth overall, finishing just behind the other Barwell-run Ecurie Ecosse Z4.
Jon and Phil are also in very good form in this year’s British GT series, in which they are currently lying in second position in the standings, having claimed victory in the Championship’s ‘blue riband’ event, the Silverstone 500, last time out.
Keen has already been part of the crew in the sister Barwell Lamborghini in the last two Blancpain Endurance Cup events, with full season challengers Leo Machitski and Marco Mapelli, and this trio claimed a charging 3rd place in Pro-Am in the recent Paul Ricard 1000kms event. Machitski and Mapelli will continue in their car for the Spa 24 Hours, where they are re-joined by Marco Attard, with multiple Le Mans class-winning star, Tom Kimber-Smith, concluding the line-up.
Mark Lemmer, Barwell Motorsport Team Principal: “It’s great to have John and Keeny on board for the Spa 24 hours again. They are both driving the car brilliantly in either wet or dry conditions. We have got super strong line-ups in both of our cars.”
