Star of The Great British Bake Off, Paul Hollywood, could make his Avon Tyres British GT Championship debut next season, reports this week’s Autosport.

TV’s best-known baker has already made several appearances at the wheel of Beechdean AMR’s Aston Martin V8 Vantage in the British Endurance Championship throughout 2015 and could now graduate to the country’s premier domestic sportscar series.

Newly-crowned GT3 champion and Beechdean AMR owner Andrew Howard confirmed as much, telling Autosport: “It’s certainly the plan for Paul to race in GT4 next year. We’ve got a couple of options for a team-mate but it needs to be someone who can help coach Paul.”

Hollywood, meanwhile, wouldn’t be drawn on his exact plans for 2016.

“This was another session in the car for me as I build up to do a championship next year,” he said, referring to last weekend’s British Endurance outing in which he and Howard twice finished second. “It should be good fun as I don’t get enough time in the car at the moment. I may do some testing later this year.”

Beechdean’s GT3 Pro driver, Jonny Adam, recently revealed the squad could field two GT4 entries next season in its bid to secure three consecutive class titles: Jamie Chadwick and Ross Gunn’s record breaking 2015 crown came 12 months after Jake Giddings and Ross Wylie’s triumph aboard the same Aston Martin.

Hollywood wouldn’t be the first star from outside of motorsport to compete in British GT. Olympic cycling great Chris Hoy raced a Nissan GT-R GT3 throughout 2014 while Faithless frontman Maxi Jazz has also made a handful of appearances.
