Motorsport Asia Limited, the promoter of Asia’s most successful GT championship has revealed a new initiative to award the leading Amateur Drivers in the 2016 GT Asia Series.
At every round of the championship, a separate podium presentation will be made for the leading Amateur drivers in the outright GT3 class.
“We’ve had a lot of enquiries over the off-season from new teams looking to contest the Series, and many of them are Amateur drivers who may not be quite as quick as our Pro-Am combinations, so we wanted to acknowledge their involvement in the championship and award them accordingly,” David Sonenscher, the CEO of Motorsport Asia explained.
“At the close of the season the winning driver – or drivers as the case may be – will be crowned the 2016 GT Asia Series Amateur champions, and celebrated right alongside the rest of the Series title winners.”
