Ginetta USA President Adolpho Rossi predicted his team would fight for the victory and he was right.  Anchored by Ginetta pro driver, Mike Simpson, the #57 Ginetta G57-P2, powered to the lead on lap 114 and then stepped away from the field in route to a convincing 61 second win in the FARA Miami 500 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday.

The Ginetta G57-P2 was strong the entire weekend.  Simpson qualified the G57-P2 on pole for the four hour feature endurance race and teammate Guilio Borlenghi took the green flag and led for much of the early portion of the race.  After pitting on the third caution of the race and falling to seventh, the duo of Borlenghi and Simpson methodically worked their way back to second before Simpson’s eventual race winning pass on lap 114.

Mike Simpson, Ginetta Factory Driver; “What a race! It was tough to manage the tires and in the end I drifted across the (finish) line.  We were on top form throughout the weekend and it’s a delight to be able to claim victory on the Ginetta G57-P2’s US debut.”

Adolpho Rossi, Ginetta USA President; “We are very happy to beat Ligiers, Daytona Prototypes and Normas with high level professional drivers and many other good cars in the Miami 500. Our team, drivers and car did a great job and I am very proud of them all. We hope this victory pushes the Ginetta name to be more known around North America and will bring more drivers to use our cars.”

The Ginetta G55’s performed well in their class as well finishing third, fourth and fifth in the Miami 500.  Elias Azevedo and teammate Chelo La Manna brought home the #21 Ginetta G55 to the podium after finishing third in class.
