Ginetta can today confirm a number of drivers set to pilot the Ginetta G57-P2 during the inaugural rounds of the Creventic 24H Proto Series.
Company Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson will be joined by regular co-pilot, Factory Driver Mike Simpson at the helm of the Graff Racing prepared car for the trio of three hour races. The duo’s usual team, Simpson Motorsport, will instead field cars for revered GT racers Philippe Hazebrouck and Jordan Sanders.
Century Motorsport will run brothers Euan and Daniel McKay who make the switch from Porsche Carrera Cup GB. Euan is no stranger to the G57-P2, having played an important part in the teams podium finish during their debut with the car in the V de V Championship finale at Estoril on 5-6 November 2016. This will be the first time the brothers will share the same car over a race.
Euan McKay – #51 Century Motorsport Ginetta G57-P2: “Having driven the G57-P2 in Estoril I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to race in it again, this time in Dubai. The car was brilliant to drive and I can’t wait to get back in the seat. After seeing the potential of Century in Estoril, they were much the obvious choice and so I’m looking forward to teaming up with them again. This also presents a new opportunity for me, in sharing a car with my brother for the first time. It’s great to have him on board and I know how quick he is so there’s no doubts about the driver line-up in my eyes. This should mean we can challenge at the very front and hopefully bring home some more silverware!”
Daniel McKay – #51 Century Motorsport Ginetta G57-P2: “I am over the moon to be getting the chance to sample the Ginetta G57-P2 over a race weekend! After hearing all that my brother Euan had said about his experience in Estoril I quickly became quite jealous and knew I needed to get behind the wheel sooner rather than later. The move into prototypes is something that every GT driver looks at doing at some stage, I just hadn’t expected that the jump would be so soon, and quite so big! I’ve always raced against Euan and we work well in that capacity bringing each other on, so getting to work together in the same car is an experience I have been looking forward to for quite some time.”
Optimum Motorsport are regulars in the Dubai 24 hour race itself, having previously taken class wins in 2012 and 2015 with their Ginetta GT4 cars. They will run former SP3-GT4 Class Champion Ade Barwick as their make their G57-P2 debut. Colin White will race in his own CWS-prepared car whist his teammate and the driver line-ups for the HHC Motorsport and Atech Racing Dubai cars will be announced at a later date.
The 2017 Dubai 24H Prototype races will run over Tuesday and Wednesday following two practice sessions and qualifying. Each race will be three hours in total with the first race on Tuesday and final race on Wednesday running into darkness.
