On Sunday 14 September Showa Shell invited Scuderia Ferrari Test Driver Giancarlo Fisichella to the exclusive Ferrari Racing Days in Fuji, home to the final of the Shell Exciting Championship and Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific championship.

To mark the occassion at the famous Fuji Speedway, the hugely experienced Italian racer got behind the wheel of a Ferrari 458 Challenge to participate in the fifth round of the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific championship. As a guest driver, Fisichella started the race from the back of the grid, but quickly worked his way through a competitive field to eventually take the chequered flag in 2nd position, just 2.4 seconds behind the eventual winner.

After showcasing his racing prowess on the track to thousands of Ferrari fans, Fisichella took part in the Shell Exciting Championship. Since the official launch of Shell V-Power in Japan on 1st July 2014, Showa Shell have challenged customers to set their fastest time on a Gran Turismo 6 racing simulator, in order to find the top 20 drivers in Japan. The lucky semi-finalists were then invited to Fuji to compete against Fisichella for the chance to be crowned champion. On the day, the winner was treated to hot laps by the Italian around the Fuji Speedway circuit in a Ferrari 458 Speciale.

We’ve seen that there is some great racing talent here – I particularly had some tough competition in the Shell Exciting Championship!” commented Fisichella after the event.
