This year’s edition will see the comeback of Porsche who return to the race after a 16 year absence. Porsche are the most successful manufacturer in the event’s history with 16 wins and indeed their last outing back in 1998 was a triumphant one. They’ll be driving their new 919 Hybrid car and among those behind its wheel will be former Formula 1 star Mark Webber.
Audi, as always, will be one to beat, their cars having triumphed 12 times in 14 years. They also have in their ranks nine-time winner Tom Kristensen, aka ‘Mr Le Mans’, who drove the R18 e-tron quattro to victory last year. Toyota cannot be discounted either, having returned to the race in 2012 before driving into second place last year.
