even races… this is what it took to Jakub Knoll, Lennart Marioneck and Senkyr Motorsport team to gain their first win in ADAC GT Mastes in bronze grade drivers category.
“Today’s race had everything. Drama, safety car phase, even red flag and overtaking to the last lap. Everything in very hot temperature. But our drivers dealt with it very well and we could listen the czech anthem on Saturday,” said happy team boss Robert Senkyr.
Drivers of Senkyr Motorsport gained another good result in Sunday’s race as they reserved second step of the podium for the three fastest crews.
“We had big expectations for the race 2 after we‘ve tried a different setup in the morning’s warm-up and found a few tenths. Lenny had great start and he overtook five cars at once. But he was pushed out of the track in the second turn. One of the hood’s protection released probably at that time and Lenny had to go to the pits for repair. It was very quick stop but we lost about 40 seconds and also the the possibility to repeat Saturday’s result. But boys didn’t give up and were classified on the second place in Gentlemen category and 13th place overall. Lenny could even achieve the race fastest 2nd sector. We were also little bit lucky with the reset in race 2 after prblems of other cars but this is motorsport. It was maximally positive and successful weekend for us,” added Robert Senkyr.
The races on the Eurospeedway Lausitz ended the first half the ADAC GT Masters season. Now the summer holiday for drivers and teams began. Championship will resume on the Nürburgring on the 14.-16.th August.
“First four weekends showed us how bih the quality of European GT sport is. We knew that our first season in ADAC GT Masters wouldn’t be easy and because of it we are very happy about our results. We are also evaluating the possibility of the second BMW Z4 GT3. Everything is developing in a good way now. We plan to do few tests and also maybe race or two races in FIA CEZ championship before the second half of the season starts,” says Robert Senkyr.
What drivers had to say:
Jakub Knoll: “The second racet was little bit unlucky for us in overall because we had to stop in the pits in early stages of the race to fix the mechanical problem. On the other hand our car was incredibly quck today. The team did a great job.”
Lennart Marioneck: “We have little bit technical difficulties in the early stages of Sunday’s race bit I think it was unnecessary from race control to give us the black and orange flag to go the pits. The hood came up a little bit but it wasn’t danger so it was really unnecessary situation because of it we lost a lot of time. But I’m happy that we are fasters and faster and it’s really promising for the next races.”
