It was an intense day for Kessel Racing on the race track in Silverstone, where this season’s second round in the Blancpain Endurance Series is held. After the “bronze test” session on Friday, the two free practice sessions were held today, heavily influenced by the weather conditions in the morning.

In the free practice session with a constantly wet track, the fastest lap was driven by the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 from the Oman Team with the PRO participants Jelley/Al Harthy/Caine, ahead of the Porsche 997 from the PRO GT Team with Almeras di Dermont/Perera behind the wheel. The sixth overall time, the third fastest in the PRO-AM class, was set by Kessel Racing with car number 11 driven by Broniszewski-Petrobelli-Bonacini, the fastest amongst the participating Ferraris. Twentieth overall position went to the Ferrari 458 GT3 number 111 with Earle/Kremer/Mahy thanks to the second fastest time in the GTR class. During free practice the Ferrari with no.111 went off track, damaging the car, which therefore had to come to the box during the pre-qualifying session for repairs.

The fastest lap time in the second free practice session, also held on a wet track, was driven by the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 from the Black Falcon Team with the PRO drivers Al Faisal/Haupt/Simonsen behind the wheel, ahead of the Audi R8 LMS with Nash/Stippler/Mies. The Ferrari 458 GT3 with Broniszewski/Petrobelli/Bonacini set the 12th fastest overall time, the 6th fastest in the PRO-AM class and the second fastest, one tenth of a second behind the 458, amongst the Ferraris. Tomorrow, on Sunday, drivers and cars will get onto the track at 9am for the qualifying, while the race will be started at 3pm.
