The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) overturned their decision to exclude the race-winning Grasser Racing Team (AUT) from the season opener of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Monza (ITA).

The Austrian team fielded two brand new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 in the highly competitive, international racing series on 12 March 2015. It marked the first race for the GT3 race car, which was fully developed in-house at Automobili Lamborghini. The Huracán #19 was the first car to drive across the finish line after the 3-hour race, claiming a historic victory on home soil for the Automobili Lamborghini brand.

Shortly after the race, the Stewards of the Meeting ruled to exclude car #19 from the results, depriving the Grasser Racing Team of the victory. A refuelling system in breach of the regulations was given as a reason for this decision.

The FIA has now overturned this decision in all points and recognises the team’s victory at the Monza race.

Team Principal Gottfried Grasser: “We were sure that the FIA would make a decision based on the rules, since we were in conformity with the regulations. We had to be patient and wait for the hearing and the decision, but now we can officially celebrate the victory at Monza. We are proud to have claimed this historic victory together with Automobili Lamborghini. We would also like to thank SRO for the continuous support.”

The finale of the Blancpain Endurance Series will take place at Nürburgring (DEU) in four weeks time.
