In light of the success of the P3 in the 2016 FARA Championship and to meet growing demand for the P3 car, FARA and Hankook Race Tire US are pleased to announce a P3 cup! Starting with the Homestead 500 in March 2017, competitors who race with the P3 will compete in FARA’s FP-1 class and will have their own podium for the “Hankook P3 Cup”.
The winner of the 2016 FARA Championship and P3 driver Danny van Dongen is organizing the cup. Van Dongen has been organizing club level championships in Europe for over 5 years and has been driving professionally for over 17 years. “The long distance races in FARA is the perfect playground for the P3 because the car was really designed for endurance racing. I have spoken with many P3 drivers from the US and Europe and they prefer the endurance race format.” For drivers who might prefer shorter stints, FARA also offers multiple 30 minute sprint races every race weekend that are perfect for a driver to get the feel of racing the P3 without committing to the full 4 hour Enduros.
The FARA organization is thrilled with the success of the P3 in their series. As the first series in the US to host the P3, they are looking forward to furthering the growth of this class and welcome both amateur and professionals to join the fun and excitement of the FARA Championship. FARA’s founder Tico Almeida has been racing for over 40 years and prides himself on the strong sense of community that has been built within the FARA series. FARA spectators love the looks and the sounds of the P3 and FARA organizers are proud to be the first pro-am series in the United States to have an official P3 cup.
