Erebus Motorsport will head to Round Four of the Australian GT Championship this weekend buoyed by the strong pace demonstrated by the team in recent rounds.

As both the current GT pole and race lap record holders, the team is looking forward to returning to the Sydney Motorsport Park track.

The veteran pairing of Geoff Emery and Max Twigg, who currently sit sixth in the Championship, will again team up to pilot the #36 SLS AMG GT3, with youngster Morgan Haber in the #28 sister entry.

“I’ve had success at SMP in past, including last month when I raced there in the Porsche,” said Emery.

“Our speed in the SLS was pretty solid at Townsville, it was just a little disappointing that we had a rub with another car otherwise we would have had a great result there.

“The last few rounds we’ve put the car in the top-three, so if we continue that trend this weekend, it would be a great result.”

Haber, who showed promising pace during the Townsville round last month, tested at Sydney Motorsport Park last week in preparation for this weekend.

“I’ve raced a few times at Sydney Motorsport Park and had some good results there,” said Haber.

“I enjoy the turn four-five section up the hill which flows nicely, and turn one which takes a lot of commitment.

“We’ve had the pace to win all year but we haven’t really demonstrated it, and as long as we keep it clean, it should be a good weekend for us.

“The test last week went really well, and it was great to get back into the car and keep building my confidence.

“The car felt great around the track, so I feel well prepared for this weekend.”

Last round of the Australian GT Championship saw a revised driver seeding system debut, introducing 12 driver categories to replace the former system comprising four categories.

The six professional and six amateur categories will dictate mandatory minimum pit stop times which are added to extra time based on grid position.

Haber has been seeded as a ‘PRO5’, Emery as a ‘PRO6’, and Twigg as an ‘AM1’.
