KCMG took pole position in LMP2 for the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours race in the Oreca-Nissan. The fastest lap time was set in the opening laps of the first qualifying session which took place on Wednesday evening. With under one hour remaining of the four hours of running on Thursday, Sam Bird moved the G-Drive Ligier up the order to second place. Greaves Motorsport, Jota Sport, Signatech Alpine and Thiriet By TDS Racing round out the top six in LMP2, all on Dunlop tyres.
Dunlop supports 15 LMP2 teams, taking the top 10 places on the LMP2 grid for the second consecutive year. In the build-up to the event Dunlop teams have had the opportunity to test the cars on all five specifications of tyre – the three slick variants, the intermediate and the wet weather tyres.
The sole Dunlop GT entry, JMW Motorsport, starts the race from 11th in LM GTE Am.
The 83rd edition of the legendary endurance race starts at 3pm local time on Saturday when Dunlop will be aiming for a record fifth consecutive LMP2 race victory.
“It has been a straightforward preparation for the race with mixed conditions enabling our teams to refine set-ups on all our options. I think this could be one of the closest races for some time – there are quite a few very strong teams out there and as always anything can happen in 24 hour racing. We hope to have a good race with plenty of battles for those podium positions and also for one of our teams to help us claim a fifth consecutive Le Mans win.”
