There will be a new team on the Asian Le Mans Series grid this year in the new LMP3 class. With two-time Asian Le Mans Series overall reigning champion David Cheng, who will return to the series under his own team banner DC Racing.

The mainland Chinese based team is confirmed to run it’s purchased Ligier JS P3 for the full season in the hopes of winning the coveted 24 Hours of Le Mans entry.

“It’s with great pleasure to return to the series with my own team this year. We can already see growth of the series under the new leadership from the ACO, which is fantastic for the development of sports car racing in Asia. As well as the new P3 class with it’s affordability and similarity to the P2 it’s a great way for me to evolve as a driver to team owner in prototype racing.” said Cheng.

“After two titles racing for the factory team, it makes sense to come back with an Onroak Automotive car. Our clear goal is to go for a third consecutive title and to go back to Le Mans as a Chinese team. Being a newly formed group with a brand new car, for sure it will present it’s challenges. However, I believe we have a strong core team with Remy, Ho-Pin and myself and the experience in Asia, as well as in endurance racing. We’re looking to hit the ground running from the first race and utilize the knowledge of the past two years.”

Team owner David Cheng has named Remy Bouard as DC Racing’s team principle.

“It is with great pleasure that I would participate again in the 3rd Asian LMS alongside David Cheng, who’s now launching his own team “DC Racing” of Chinese nationality . A very beautiful challenge and a minestrone that I could not refuse !

We are very confident in this new category in Asia with Ligier LMP3 Onroak automotives, I know well the manufacturer and the seriousness of its design office and the quality of its achievements.

The opposition will be strong and important in this category in 2015, but our goal will be to understand and grasp the new Ligier and score maximum points from the Japan round and to concentrate on winning the “ticket” for the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours at the end of the season . Thank you to David for entrusting me with the management of this project, thank you for his confidence.” – Remy

Last year’s series co-champion Ho Pin Tung will be part of the new squad’s efforts.

“It’s very exciting to be part of this new project! A big step for Chinese Motorsports and a testament to the development of the Asian Le Mans Series. The team name is new, but with well known faces we will aim to continue the great successes that David, Remy and I have celebrated together.” – Tung

The additional third driver as well as team partnership will be announced in the following weeks as plans are being finalized.
