After two and a half months without racing, the drivers and teams of the FIA WEC will be back on track on August 29th and 30th. The fourth race of 2015 season will be the 6 Hours of Nurburgring at the German circuit of 5,148 km. Runner-up in the LMP2 class, Brazilian Pipo Derani is excited to return to the cockpit of the Ligier JS P2 # 28 (Dunlop / Nissan) of the G-Drive Racing team.
In June, at his debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Pipo and his teammates – - were fourth in the LMP2 category. So far this season, the trio has already secured two podiums and has 74 points in the standings, only four behind the leaders Matthew Howson and Richard Bradley.
“It’s great to return to the track after two and a half months between Le Mans and Nurburgring. Now begins a new phase in the championship. The result in Le Mans was very important to start the second half of the season, which will see a big struggle for leadership of LMP2, but we know it will be more difficult, because the other teams are also improving every race”, said Derani.
Nevertheless, the 21-year-old Brazilian driver is confident and believes a good performance with the Ligier is possible at the Nurburgring track. “I believe that Nurburgring is a good track for our Ligier with the Dunlop tires, and we want to fight to return to the championship lead. It’s a track I know well from my times racing in the Formula Renault and Formula 3 series, so I am excited to return to competing there. This round will also mark the end of racing in Europe, so we look forward to consolidating the results so we can go to the United States and Asia with a lot of confidence”, added Derani.
The practice sessions in Nurburgring will begin on Friday (28th), with qualifying on Saturday (29th). On Sunday, the race will start at 1pm (local time – cet).
