In early April, the AH Team Brasil will announce all the news for 2014 season of the Blancpain GT Series. But while setting the last details, the team – which has Antonio Hermann as Team Principal and Washington Bezerra as Sports Manager – will test in France next week.
Caca Bueno, driver of the team in the debut season last year, and Nelson Piquet Jr., who will test the car for the first time, will test the BMW Z4 of the Brazilian team on Monday (10th) and Wednesday (12th). On Monday, they will participate in a private test at Nogaro, track which will host the season opener of the Sprint Series 18-21 of April. On Wednesday, they join the other drivers of the category for the BOP (Balance of Performance), which will take place at Paul Ricard.
Piquet, who came close to race for the Brazilian team at the end of last year in Baku, Azerbaijan, is pleased with the opportunity to test for the team.
“I am very excited to test with the first Brazilian team in the FIA GT. During my 20 year career, I run to national teams that have had the courage to face foreigners in British Formula 3, GP2, A1GP, and the Global Rallycross Championship. Participate the efforts of the mechanicals and Brazilian engineers competing in major international categories is undoubtedly an additional motivation to any driver”, said Piquet Jr., who was the first Brazilian driver to win in NASCAR and partially compete in the Global Rallycross Championship season in 2013.
“I want to accelerate the BMW since last year, when I was close to competing for the team in Baku (before the change date of the race). In 1983, my father won his second title in F1 with BMW engine after a gorgeous development work in partnership with the brand. More than 30 years ago and I’m proud for the opportunity to be part of this success story between Piquet and BMW family”, completed Piquet.
For Caca, will be two important days of testing for the team and the multi Brazilian Champion in Stock Cars expects better equalization between the cars this year. “I am excited about the opportunity to test two days before the season starts and hopefully a good balance and a better equalization for the car this year. It will be good to meet Washington and the entire staff and start our second season in Europe”, said Bueno. In 2013, in the debut of the team in Nogaro, Caca – running alongside Allam Khodair – was very close to the podium. The driver was in third place when had electronic problems and ended up finishing seventh.
