Vector Martini Racing (VMR) is pleased to announce that Brazilian racing driver, Bruno Senna, has joined their iRace Pro Team. Under the instruction of Vector professionals, Bruno will shortly start his training as powerboat racing pilot in preparation to join the Vector Martini four-man crew at next year’s World Endurance Record Challenge from Sᾶo Paulo to Rio de Janeiro in July to coincide with the 2016 summer Olympic Games.

Bruno Senna, nephew of the late Ayrton Senna, is currently racing for Mclaren GT in the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as for Mahindra Racing in Formula E.

Previously he also competed in the BMW UK Championships and GP2 before joining the Formula 1 World Championship from 2010 to 2012.

Bruno will be joining the VMR three-man crew consisting of pilot Peter Dredge, Malcom Crease and Simon Powell who, together with David Gandy, recently won the Cowes Classic race in September for the second consecutive year.

Bruno Senna commented: “I am extremely excited about the partnership with Vector as World Records put down marks in history, and it will be an entirely new challenge for me. Racing boats always drew my attention, so it’s an amazing opportunity to be part of Vector’s high-tech and high-performance programme on our way to incredible achievements!”

Malcolm Crease, CEO added: “We are very pleased that Bruno will be joining our exclusive iRace Pro Team. Seeing Bruno’s transition from a Formula 1 race car to a 2200hp, 7 tonne powerboat will be a unique experience for everyone. Bruno’s experience with Formula E also sits very well with our recently-announced intention to build the world’s fasted hybrid electric powerboat.”
