Following the FIA WEC race of the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, the CLM P1/01, Boris Bermes, Head of the team, has answered a few questions for Endurance-Info :
Did this race match your expectations?
“It was our first competitive outing of the season so we wanted to get as much out of Austin as possible. Finishing the race was our number one goal, number two was collecting data and number three was being competitive. Overall, I’m very happy with the team’s performance. ”
Has the team been looking first of all for reliability?
“Absolutely, without reliability in endurance racing, you are nothing. With such a new package, we wanted to make sure that the car was as reliable as possible.”
What have been the main issues at COTA, if any?
“There were no hugely surprising negative elements. Christophe’s spin in the wet lost us some time but he recovered well and it was nice to see the guys on the podium – Austin has a history of being good to us.”
What has been the feedback of the drivers after the race?
“The driver feedback was very interesting, they certainly weren’t too fond of the wet conditions but they said that the visibility was excellent. To be honest, they just wanted to have as much time in the car as possible during race conditions and we think they did a great job.”
What will be the next development phase for the car?
“Straight on to the next race.”
Could I know how we have to name the car now?
“CLM P1/01″
Does CLM stand for Caterham Le Mans?
“That’s an interesting interpretation but the direction behind the naming is not something we want to go into at the moment.”
Will you be testing before the next FIA WEC race?
“No testing before the next FIA WEC race, the car is already being shipped.”
