A good weekend for the BMW Team Brasil at Misano (Italy) in the sixth and penultimate round of the 2015 Blancpain Sprint Series. The Brazilian team, led by Antonio Hermann and Washington Bezerra, scored points with the two cars in both the Qualifying and Main races.
On Saturday (3rd), Átila Abreu and Valdeno Brito finished fourth with the # 77 BMW Z4 and Cacá Bueno and Sérgio Jimenez were sixth with # 0 BMW Z4. On Sunday (4th), the duos repeated the results in the Main Race.
Norbert Siedler and Marco Seefried and their # 333 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari had a perfect race weekend, taking pole position and the win in both races.
The Brazilian team showed a good performance in both races and, on Sunday, Valdeno Brito in the #77 Team Brasil BMW and Craig Dolby in the #173 Always Evolving Nissan had a most entertaining scrap for fourth, with the Brazilian eventually holding on to his position.
The Brazilian team also won the Pit Stop Challenge, with the faster pit stop with the #0 BMW Z4.
Final round of the Blancpain Sprint Series Season will take place at Zandvoort: 9 – 11 October.
Quotes
Átila Abreu – #77 BMW Z4
“The races were really cool and it was a shame we do not have a better engine to fight for the podium because the car had a good pace. On Sunday, I started well and almost jumped to first. If we had a stronger engine, I would have succeeded, but I opted for the safety and came in third. Then the Bentley had a stronger pace and overtook. We were 15 km / h slower on the straight. Then, it becomes more difficult to fight. But we were very happy. The mechanicals won again as the best pit stop and they are leading the Pit Stop Challenge. It’s pretty cool for them because it is a recognition of all the work they have been doing with excellence, always putting ourselves forward in the race, as that sometimes we cannot overtake on the track but we are managed to gain positions in the pits.”
Valdeno Brito – #77 BMW Z4
“Fourth position in a race where we had no accidents benefit up front. It was really in the race, making the maximum that the car could. It was really cool to battle with the Nissan, a faster car than ours, but it was fun and it was nice to give a good reason to the team celebrate as well. They have been working hard all year and they know the deficiency of our equipment. I’m happy with the result and now we go to the last round of the championship. We will try to end the season with a good result”.
Sérgio Jimenez – #0 BMW Z4
“We did our best. Our car engine loses much compared to the other team car, then it gets complicated. But the team took the points again and the car # 0 again won the Pit Stop Challenge, so we were very happy with it”.
