The fifth round of the 2015 season of the Blancpain Sprint Series will be held this weekend at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão (By). The BMW Team Brasil is optimistic. The drivers and the cast, headed by Antonio Hermann and Washington Bezerra, have been evolved a lot in this season, and the team hopes to have, again, others goods results and to score as many points in the championship, in search of the title between drivers and teams.

The race in Portugal is considered the ‘home race’ for the green and yellow team, because the team’s headquarters is in the country, in Estoril. This fact animates everyone and increases the will to win. The duo of BMW Z4 #77, Valdeno Brito and Átila Abreu, wants to keep the good performance that has had throughout the season, so far been were four podiums, and the third place in the standings. In the car #0 of Cacá Bueno and Sérgio Jimenez, the duo that show their progress and reverse the result in the Algarve circuit in the season of 2014, when they had good chances to go to the podium, but had a problem with the quick launch in the pit stop and finished the race in 14th only.

Quotes
Valdeno Brito, BMW Z4 #77
“I think it will be interesting to race almost at home, the team had a good workout in the Algarve at the beginning of the year. I´m not participated and I don’t´know the racetrack. But I want to use the experiences of my teammates and watch videos and so speed up my track learning process. I want to keep the average I have with Átila and doing our best, in each other race. We don´t have making a counts for the drivers’ championship. We are on right way and the team is able to win, so we go from round to round, and perhaps in the end, we will think whether is necessary to change the strategy. The goal is always to do our best. I am fighting for the drivers’ championship, and a victory would help to add more points. Then I think of the two (victory and championship), but obviously the most important thing is the drivers’ championship”.

Átila Abreu, BMW Z4 #77
“We are excited for this round in Portugal. The pre-season was at this circuit, so I already know the racetrack. I think it is a very interesting track, with long straights and fast corners and other slow, some points are favorable for the BMW Z4 and others not. The car has evolved and we expect good results. Race “at home” makes it much easier, it gives an added incentive to achieve the goals and fight for the lead. When I entered in the Blancpain Sprint Series I didn´t intend to dispute the title, but even do not having done the first round, to get four podiums and others good results, have changed my predictions about the championship. All this is a result of the team and the drivers. The BMW has evolved a lot during the year and the merit is all the time. We will continue to do a good job as we are doing, for to get new good results and of course dreaming of the title, it could be the realization of a dream for us. But we have to focus on Portugal, get out of there with a good result, because it is an important race to reduce the points difference to leaders. A 100% Brazilian victory is coming, we cannot to be anxious to win, because an hour the victory appears”.

Cacá Bueno, BMW Z4 #0
“Algarve is a circuit that despite many problems we had there in 2014, we raced well last year. It was also there that made the pre-season this year and we had good results. We also have succeeded in most of the racetracks we already know. The Portimao circuit is good for us, is not the most favorable, because it has a long straight, but on the other hand has high-speed corners where the BMW behaves well. Me and Jimenez had chances to go to the podium in several rounds, but unfortunately did not happen. I hope we can, finally, celebrate in Portugal”.

Sérgio Jimenez, BMW Z4 #0
“The team spends much of the year in the workshop, in Europe, in our base which is in Portugal. The mechanicals have made friends there and this race is our race at ‘home’. The expectation is good. Last year we were already competitive at this racetrack and we lost a place at podium due electrical problem. Now, I want to get the podium. For us of the car # 0 is important get as many points that we lost during the year because of accidents. Surely, we would be much better in the standings if not for that”.
