Barwell Motorsport is delighted to announce that it will be contesting this year’s Gulf 12 Hours race event, at the Yas Marina F1 track in Abu Dhabi on December 17th. The team will be fielding one of its stunning Lamborghini Huracan GT3s in this one-off annual event, having previously competed in the race in an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in 2012.
The Huracan will be driven by four drivers new to Barwell, but with extensive experience in GT racing. Leading the squad will be top Portuguese driver, and former FIA GT1 front-runner, Miguel Ramos, and he will be joined by countrymen Filipe Barreiros and Francisco Guedes, as well as Danish racer Mads Rasmussen. This quartet will compete in the GT Gentlemen class of the 12-hour encounter.
The British team will be hoping for a repeat of its successful initial foray in the Yas Marina race, when its Aston GT4 claimed a podium finish in the GTX class in the hands of Tom Kimber-Smith, Jan Andersen, Geoff Kimber-Smith and Barwell team principal, Mark Lemmer.
Mark Lemmer, Barwell Motorsport Team Principal: “The Gulf 12 Hours is a great event at a world class venue, and our Huracan GT3 should be well suited to the long straights of the Yas Marina GP circuit. We are aiming to close out what has been a highly successful 2016 season with another podium, and maybe even a win!”
