The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship makes its first visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week for the Brickyard Grand Prix. Televised live, Friday at 5:30PM (ET), the TUDOR Championship will see all four classes the iconic 2.435 mile road course.
BAR1 Motorsports will compete in the Prototype Challenge class partnering with Top1 Oil and Earth Day Texas. Piloting the No. 88 car will be Martin Plowman and Doug Bielefeld. The pair return fresh off their second place finish at the Sahlen 6 Hours at the Glen and are looking to continue their success.
“This could be our best shot to stand on the top step of the podium so far this season,” said team owner, Brian Alder. “We have a strong driver line-up and we showed everyone what our drivers, the car and the crew were capable of at Watkins Glen. I think the entire team is ready to carry that momentum into the week.”
“We are also excited to announce our partnership with Earth Day Texas,” continued Brian. “Our goal is to work together extending our relationship into the future and to raise awareness among Earth Day Texas supporters. Even in an industry not thought of as being green, there are ways we are making a positive impact on our environment. It’s important and we want to lead in the initiative.”
“Looking for ways to be green in a sport that is not necessarily thought of as being green is a great opportunity for all of us,” said Michael Cain, Executive Director of Earth Day Texas. “We want to show that by using non-synthetic oils, green fuels and green cleaning chemicals, people everywhere in the world are able to make a difference Our philosophy is that long term sustainable environmental change is only possible by bringing business and all parties to the table. Everyone must come to the table to make a difference.”
“It may seem ironic that Earth Day Texas and BAR1 would work to form partnership,” added Cain, but no more ironic that Earth Day Texas hosts the largest Earth Day Environmental Exhibition in the world in Dallas, Texas. We are not the most natural of partners, but we applaud BAR1 for being a leader in the realization that going green is not only good for their image and their bottom line but also good for the environment. We are pleased to be part of an effort that shows that green means more than just the color of the flag that signaled the start of its races.”
