Balance of Performance Changes for Road to Le Mans

Following the first race in Italy, the Balance of Performance for the 2016 Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup has been adjusted for four of the cars taking part in the 55-minute Road to Le Mans event on Saturday 18 June.

Following the race at Imola three of the cars on the GT3 Le Mans Cup grid have seen a reduction in the car weight.  The Audi R8 LMS will receive a 20kg reduction on the 1295kg weight it ran in Italy; the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 will also receive a 20kg reduction from 1300kg to 1280kg and the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 will have a 10kg reduction applied in Le Mans reducing the car’s weight from 1300kg to 1290kg.

The Mercedes AMG GT3 will make an appearance on the Road to Le Mans grid on the 18 June and will have to run with 1330kg, up from 1305kg previously imposed and +45kg above the cars base weight of 1285kg.

In addition to the weight changes, the engine restrictor diameters have been adjusted on two cars.   The restrictors on the Ferrari F458 Italia GT3  has been reduced from 36mm to 34.5mm and the restrictors on the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 has been increased from 35mm it ran in Italy to 36.2mm but still 0.8mm less than the base line of 37mm it was given at the start of the season.

Success Ballast

One of the key features of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup is the application of success ballast.  The top five cars in Imola will have to carry additional weight depending on the position they finished in Italy.

Road To Le Mans

The Road To Le Mans will take place on Saturday 18 June with two 60-minute Free Practice sessions on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 June followed by qualifying at 18h00 on Thursday evening.

The Road to Le Mans is Round 2 of the 2016 Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup and the grid will also feature LMP3 competitors from around the world.
