After a solid performance in qualifying on Saturday with the team securing second place on the grid, it was to be a day to forget on Sunday with the Aylezo Ecotint Racing Ginetta LMP3 having some bad luck due to mechanical problems.

On the way to the grid for the start of the race the unimaginable happened- the clutch pump experienced a problem- forcing the team to send the car back to the pits to try and fix it. Unfortunately there was not enough time, and the car had to start the race from the pits, meaning the team couldn’t take advantage of their front row starting position.

In a race of attrition that included four safety car periods in the first hour and twelve cars retiring from the race, the Ginetta LMP3 of Aylezo Ecotint Racing was running in survival mode for the whole four hours, with an additional problem in the final hour being the fuel pump leading to engine power loss.

But the team remained upbeat and learnt a lot about the car in this first weekend of competition in the Asian Le Mans Series, leaving the circuit looking on the bright side as team leader Zen Low tells us: “It was a disappointing result, especially after we had such a strong qualifying session on Saturday. But we are not beaten and it was just bad luck that can happen to anyone. We are looking forward to the next race in Japan at the start of December. Once again I would like to thank the team for working so hard on the car, and all our partners for their support. There are more races to come, and we’re looking strong for the remainder of the season.
