As Audi specialists Aust prepare for their second season in the ADAC GT Masters, they have been boosted by the recruitment of Pierre Kaffer and Markus Pommer.

After a promising debut season in the Super Sports Car League, Aust Motorsport intend to fight for podium finishes in 2017. To this end, team principal Frank Aust will be relying on a mix of experience and youth in the cockpit of their Audi R8 LMS.

Pierre Kaffer brings a wealth of experience from DTM, prototypes and GT sports. One of the ex-Audi works driver’s biggest achievements was his victory in the famous 12 hours of Sebring in 2004. The adoptive Swiss citizen is looking forward to the challenge: “The ADAC GT Masters goes from strength to strength. With cars from seven different manufacturers, the competition here is immense. We want to get ourselves established among the front-runners – that’s our stated goal.”

Kaffer will be sharing the cockpit with Markus Pommer, winner of the last ATS Formula 3 Cup in 2014. The 26-year-old from Heilbronn already has experience of the ADAC GT Masters, having contested six of the seven events last year in an Audi R8 LMS, two of them as a member of the Aust Motorsport squad, namely the Nürburgring and Zandvoort weekends.
