Before the GT Open August break, Archie drove to a third place finish with his new team-mate Isaac Tutumlu in the SRT Selleslagh Racing Team by Barzani Corvette GT2.
Archie qualified fifth in class for race one in difficult wet conditions with Isaac securing the same slot for the second race.
Yesterday’s first race was a thrilling 70 minutes of action throughout the field with Archie starting fifth and after the driver change Isaac rejoining in third. A safety car, with seven minutes remaining, bunched the field and he conceded a place on the restart despite a great defence. The pair finished fourth in the SGT class.
Today’s race was more productive with Isaac handing over to Archie from fourth. After the pit stops Archie emerged in second place but after allowing guest-entry Aston Martin through rather than risk contact, took a well-earned third place overall and in class to the duo.
Archie next races in the sixth round of the International GT Open Championship at Spa on 6th & 7th September.
Archie Hamilton:
“A really good first weekend with the team! It’s nice to be on the podium at my home race with my new team and with my friends and family there. I feel at home already and we don’t have a big time handicap for Spa so hopefully we can do a good job there too. Isaac and I work well together – being friends off-track has given us a head start. We also have similar pace and I think that shows as the race goes on. It’s good to be back on the podium but my goal is now to show that we are consistently capable of taking top three results.”
