Joel Camathias continued the string of podium finishes, adding a fourth consecutive ‘top 3’ results in the LMGT Am category of the FIA World Endurance Championship: together with team mates Christian Ried and Wolf Henzler, the Swiss driver brought the Porsche 911 R to third position in the Shanghai 6 Hours, the eighth round of the season and the home race for Hong-Kong based KCMG team.
It was again a closely-fought race, where the KCMG trio was very competitive since the beginning, and ended with a very strong final part of the race. The team will now seek to end the season on a high note in the last race, scheduled in Bahrain on 19 November.
Joel Camathias:
“We are clearly very happy with this new great result. We have proven competitive since the start of the weekend, but the competition is really fierce and it has been a tough race, on a track which is not simple. After qualifying in fourth, we have always been fighting for the top positions. This time, I did the third and fifth stints, and Wolf has been very good in the final part, climbing up to second. Unfortunately, there was a contact with one of our rivals caused by a LMP2 car, and we received a 10-second penalty. Still, third is an excellent result after another great performance of the entire team.”
