Kessel Racing is the winner in the grand final of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup and the GT Sports Club in Barcelona

Montmelò is, without a shadow of doubt, among the most difficult and demanding tracks in the international motorsport panorama and has been documented in every category on important pages. This weekend, Kessel Racing has been added.

In the GT Series Sprint Cup the PRO-AM Broniszewski/Piccini crew in the Ferrari F488 GT3 won the championship both for drivers and team, electing Broniszewski the top driver in the Blancpain GT Series, after having already won the Blancpain Endurance last September 18th at Nurburgring.

The final races of the GT Sports Club also took place in Barcellona. After Michal Broniszewski’s leadership as driver since the Spa-Francorchamps round, the Iron Cup title between Stephen Earle and Martin Lanting was in precarious balance. Because of a puncture in the rear right tyre, the American Kessel driver, who won the fantastic “main race”, had to hand his sceptre to Lanting, who wins the championship with only one point of advantage in the final ranking. Scheltema, who went well too for his debut in the series and in the GT3, and De Bernardi, improving greatly, were the protagonists of two brilliant rounds full of overtaking and twists.

Now the Barcelona weekend is over, the Kessel Racing team is moving to Jerez de La Frontera, for the Ferrari Challenge Europe which is at its second but last appointment next weekend.

RONNIE KESSEL (Team Principal): “We closed a great racing season with the Blancpain series in Barcelona. We won another title with the team. It was a pity for Earle who, by just one point, didn’t get the championship title as he certainly deserved. However, it was a great season for all the team, a year that already launches us towards the future with the same will to win; starting from the races in Jerez next weekend, where we will be racing the Ferrari Challenge”.
