Congratulations on your fifth title in the ADAC GT Masters – 2009 as driver, 20101 with Team Abt Sportsline, 2013 with Team Prosperia C. Abt Racing and this year both as Team Boss as well as the drivers’ title for your drivers René Rast and Kelvin van der Linde. What characterizes your two Champions?
The two have a near faultless season behind them. In my eyes, René Rast is in the form of his life. When we signed Kelvin van der Linde before the season we were ridiculed at that time in view of his youthful age of 17. However, it turned out that he repaid our confidence in him with a fantastic performance.
Quite honestly now: were you more nervous making decisions yourself in the cockpit earlier, or is it more nerve wracking today to fight for the title from the pit wall?
I think the work as Team Boss is more challenging and also more stressful. As driver you just concentrate in the car on the race. As Team Boss, I have to motivate an entire team and pay attention to many different things
What goals do you still have with you team this year?
We will compete in the Blancpain Sprint Series finale in Baku with the drivers Christopher Mies and Kelvin van der Linde. The event is a perfect yardstick to see how Prosperia C. Abt Racing compares at an international level. I hope we play a major role.
